They feel sympathy for her because the evidence against Amanda was a joke. Marijuana is in common enough use these days that people know that there's no such thing is a "marijuana fueled craze." Many people are upset that there was no evidence linking Amanda to the man who was proved to have left his semen within Kercher's on the night of the murder. Many people are upset that a prosecutor convicted a young person with no criminal background with no other evidence than his unsubstantiated claim that she was a drug crazed slu t. This conviction is sickening. And, people with good conscience should feel sympathy for Amanda.
